Ziggy Kish, PhD
Ziggy is a postdoctoral researcher in Marta San Luciano’s lab where they are studying the therapeutic effects of cerebellar deep brain stimulation in people with spinocerebellar ataxia. They are generally interested how the brain generates movement and are excited to transition to clinical research. Their PhD focused on how vocalizations are coordinated with breathing in songbirds in Michael Brainard and Kevin Yackle’s labs at UCSF, and their undergraduate research focused on how the cerebellum generates temporal sequences for motor learning in Mike Mauk’s lab at the University of Texas at Austin where they also received a B.S. in neuroscience and mathematics. Outside of research, they love spending time with their two chaotic but sweet little birdies, communing with nature through hiking, camping, and biking, and exploring movement through pole dancing, circus arts, and contemporary floorwork.
