When, Where and How to Stimulate the Cerebellum (Adaptive DBS targeting Dentate Nucleus to Treat Ataxia)

In collaboration with the University of Florida and fully funded by the Raynor Cerebellum Project, this study explores adaptive deep brain stimulation of the dentate nucleus in patients with spinocerebellar ataxia type 6. Using bidirectional sensing and stimulation devices, combined with behavioral assessments and video kinematics, we aim to identify cerebellar biomarkers of disease states and design adaptive stimulation strategies that dynamically modulate cerebellar activity to improve motor function.
